Dear Water Customer,

The Lake Meade Municipal Authority would like to update you on the attached DEP document that we are required to send out yearly to each customer regarding a Service Line Inventory report completed in October. Please read the following to better understand the purpose of the notice.
In 2021, the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published the Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR), which required all community water suppliers (CWS) to complete and submit an initial Service Line Inventory (SLI) to DEP by October 16, 2024, in accordance with 40 CFR, Section141.84. The purpose of the SLI is for each water system to identify and document the material of all service lines piping in the system. The inventory must include all service lines regardless of ownership. To identify and document the material, DEP was asking all CWS systems to dig and identify (photograph) each service line on both sides of the meter and where it enters the house.
The LMMA can assure you that we DO NOT have any Lead or Galvanized connections or plumbing in our system. Lead or Galvanized connections were never permitted or allowed in our system including the homeowners die of the meter and in 1991 there was even a federal band of all lead pipes/connections in public water supplies. The evidence of no lead in our system was not satisfactory enough for DEP to allow us to avoid doing the service line inventory, therefore, forcing us to complete the initial SLI as “Lead Status Unknown”. By submitting the report as “Unknown”, it allowed us to avoid the excavation at each property. You are receiving the following notice as all Public Water Suppliers are required to notify their customers of the Leas Status in our system.
